Things To Do
Exploring Morehead in person is the only way for us to explain how you can create the most memorable experiences in one or two days or extend it to a weeklong adventure. Our local attractions are always evolving, our galleries are always changing with new works, and we are always hosting new events that attract both local and visitors alike. Our 8200-acre lake is breathtaking and less than two hours from key cities near the northeastern side of KY. If you are traveling by air, we are an hour's drive from two major airports and moments away from our very own airport. Our local culture is adventurous and creative, yet relaxed. We value our history and are proud to learn and educate others about our past. Morehead is a place where you can be active or slow down to reconnect with nature.
A community located in the heart of the Daniel Boone National Forest, we have all the makings of the perfect picture yet the small town hospitality our visitors still adore. The Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail starts in our community, and we are the only community in Kentucky that the trail meanders down Main Street so, all skill levels are welcome on the trail or sidewalk. Traveling with the family? There are plenty of cool adventures for the little ones including playgrounds, parks, trails for trekking, creeks for splashing or various art activities. Whether you are interested in relaxing, thrill seeking, eating, dreaming big or just realizing that Morehead is closer than you think, it’s time for a visit. This isn’t just your average town, this is a town just off the beaten path, so read on to find our favorite things to do, see and experience.
