The mission of the Morehead-Rowan County Recreation, Tourist and Convention Commission is to promote and enhance tourism in Morehead and Rowan County by authentically connecting visitors with our natural landscapes, creative culture and welcoming communities through strategic planning, marketing and partnerships.

The vision is to position Morehead-Rowan County as a premier regional destination that celebrates its rich natural beauty, dynamic outdoor recreation, cultural vibrancy, and deep-rooted heritage - fostering long-term, sustainable tourism growth and economic vitality that benefits both residents and visitors. 

The commission is governed by members appointed by the City of Morehead Mayor and the Rowan County Judge-Executive.  All regularly scheduled meetings are held the last Wednesday of each month at 10 a.m. ET/9 a.m. CT.  The meeting is held on Zoom.  The agency is designated a Special Purpose Government Entity by the State of Kentucky, therefore the organization's budget is published annually on the Kentucky Department for Local Governments website.
